Jim Young

Owner/Principal
Jim Young is the owner and key principal of NorthView Research Group, and has been in marketing research and brand consulting for over 25 years, as an analyst, project manager, account executive, research director and brand strategist.

Prior to starting NorthView Research Group, Jim worked at EvansGroup in Seattle (now Publicis USA), in its branding and research division, where he earned the employee of the year award in 1998.  Prior to that, he was research director at a prominent communications and PR firm in Seattle.  Jim started his career with a large Seattle-area marketing research firm, working there as an analyst, project manager and account executive.

In his 25+ years as a marketing research professional, Jim has had clients in a wide variety of industries and sectors, including IT, consumer/retail, financial, manufacturing, health sciences, government and non-profit.  Noted clients have included: Microsoft, Nokia, HP, Sun Microsystems, McCaw Cellular (now AT&T Wireless), IBM, MakerBot (a leading 3D printing company), Central Point Software (Symantec), Tandem Computers, John Fluke Manufacturing, Nortel Networks, Aldus (Adobe), Simon Properties (largest shopping mall operator in the country), JELD-WEN Windows & Doors (North America’s largest window and door manufacturer), Washington State Employees Credit Union, Bayer Crop Science, and the Institute for Systems Biology.  Among his clients have also been many startups, which Jim particularly enjoys working with.

Andrew DeNance

Qualitative Research Manager

Andrew is NorthView’s qualitative expert, helping design our qualitative projects, and managing and conducting the actual qualitative market research work.  Andrew is a highly experienced and engaging moderator, having conducted hundreds of focus groups and executive in-depth interviews across many industries.  His excellent interpersonal and communications skills have been developed through a combined thirty years of marketing research, sales and marketing management, and teaching.

His background and experience in teaching children and adults, in behavioral science and psychology, and in group dynamics has contributed to his versatility in conducting individual interview, focus group and other qualitative research with a wide variety of respondents.  From working on an in-depth level with children and teenagers, to seniors, to MIS managers, to CEO’s, Andrew provides the necessary and appropriate communications and interactive skills to deliver optimum results for our clients.

Andrew’s extensive client experience includes: Nokia, US West, Minute Maid, Washington State Dept. of Transportation, National Jewish Medical Center, Quantum, Hewlett-Packard, Starbucks, Weyerhaeuser, Microsoft, REI, Optiva, Eagle Hardware and Garden, Frank Russell Company, plus many others.
